LEMOSHO
ROUTE
- Difficulty: High
- Scenery: Excelent
- Traffic : Medium
Lemosho route’s starting point is 2250m , The drive is very scenic as you
pass through the west kilimanjaro captivation area, see local farmers at work
on there farms. you pass through a forest vegetation towards the parks gate.
The route is unspoilt and beautiful way up to the Shira Plateau while
climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s rooftop. It can either be used to gain the
Western Breach route or followed by the Kibo South Circuit to ascend by the
easier Barafu Route. Lemosho route is has one of the highest success when it
comes to summiting Mt kilimanjaro.
MACHAME
ROUTE
- Difficulty: High
- Scenery: Excelent
- Traffic : High
Machame route is probably the most
beautiful route up Mt Kilimanjaro. Also the the Machame route is our most
successful and popular hiking route on Mt. Kilimanjaro. All your equipment and
supplies are portered and a cook prepares all your meals while on the mountain.
Where accommodation on the Marangu route is in huts, the Machame route offers
strictly tents only. This makes Machame (also referred to as the “Whiskey
route”) better suited to the slightly more adventurous hiker, however rewarding
him with a scenic splendour such as not seen on the Marangu route. From late
afternoon sunsets at Shira, to the misty revelations of Kibo at the great
Barranco Wall.
MARANGU
ROUTE
- Difficulty: Medium
- Scenery: Good
- Traffic : High
Marangu route also known as the
“Coca-Cola route” is by far the most popular route to the summit Africa’s
rooftop Mt Kilimanjaro. The trek begins in the south-east area of the mountain
at Marangu Gate. This could partly be as a result of the fact that the Marangu
is the least expensive route, but more so, perhaps the fact that it is possible
to do the Marangu route in 5 days, thereby getting to the summit one day
earlier than on the Machame route.
RONGAI
ROUTE
- Difficulty: Medium
- Scenery: Good
- Traffic : High
Rongai route ascends Mt
Kilimanjaro from the north-eastern side of the mountain, along the border
between Tanzania and Kenya. This route retains a sense of unspoilt wilderness
and offers a different perspective on Kilimanjaro by approaching it from the
north. From the alluring summit of Uhuru Peak (5895m) we will have amazing and
staning 360° views of the surrounding plain .
UMBWE ROUTE
- Difficulty: Very High
- Scenery: Very good
- Traffic : Very low
Umbwe route is one of the
shortest routes to the Southern Glaciers and the Western Breach and its the
most challenging route on Mt Kilimanjaro.
Approaching from the
south, the Umbwe route is a short, steep and direct climb.
It is probably the most
scenic, non-technical route on Kilimanjaro. It is quite taxing, primarily due
to the relatively fast ascent to higher altitude, but the rewards are
plentiful. Due to the fast ascension to high altitude, this route does not
provide the necessary stages for acclimatization. Although the traffic on this
route is very low, the chances of success are also low.
