Lake Challa, the mystical caldera lake, is a gem as brilliant as the precious Tanzanite itself and quite simply, just different to anywhere else. This lake is fed by underground springs from Mt. Kilimanjaro.
The Lake Chala safari camp is set against a dramatic volcanic backdrop. A tranquil and romantic piece of African heaven.
Itinerary: 08:30 am leave Moshi and drive towards East Kilimanjaro / Taveta. From here you will take the small dirt track till Lake Challa safari camp. At Lake Challa, you will proceed for a guided tour and can enjoy sceneries of the Lake from the top of Challa hill / surrounding savannah woodland / crater walls around the lake / views of Kibo and Mawenzi Peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro. Picnic lunch at Lake Challa. The highlight at the lake is a walk through the lake side forest till the shore where swimming is also possible so take bathing suit with you. Mid to late afternoon drive back to Moshi.
