DAY 2: Lake Manyara – game drives
Breakfast, a packed lunch and we are off in a well-equipped 4-wheel drive overland vehicle with a panorama hatch for photographing and filming, to LAKE MANYARA which is practically around the corner from Mto wa Mbu. A whole day of game drives and an idyllic stop for lunch at Lake Manyara. Towards the end of the afternoon, we return to the Fanaka resort for dinner.
DAY 3: Mto wa Mbu – Olduvai Gorge – Serengeti
After breakfast, we drive over mainly gravel roads to the SERENGETI via Olduvai Gorge. We arrive at the luxury Mawe Tented Camp in the Seronera area, right in the heart of the Serengeti. Depending on the time, we make a short game drive, enjoy a sundowner, dinner and listen to the African sounds all around us! Accommodation in furnished, big safari tents, with a shower and toilet and dinner in the Safari restaurant and after dinner relaxing with a cold drink by the fireplace before sleeping in a very comfortable bed in a great Safari tent.
DAY 4: Serengeti – game drives
First game drive at sunset, followed by breakfast and a game drive with a packed lunch and sufficient water, in search of the migrating herds of gnus. Depending on the season, the wildebeests and zebras are either moving to the north, south or west of the SERENGETI, followed by hungry lions, cheetahs, leopards and hyenas. We return to our ‘Out in Adrica’ Tented Camp at the end of the afternoon. Dinner and overnight in Safari Tent.
DAY 5: Serengeti – in search of the gnus
Depending on the season, we either stay in the Seronera area, the perfect base camp for making various game drives, or we move to the north in the direction of the Mara River or Ndutu, between the SERENGETI and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. It’s back to the Tented Camp at Seronera at the end of the afternoon for dinner to digest all your impressions as the sun sets.
DAY 6: Serengeti -Ngorongoro
After breakfast we leave the Serengeti to enter the Ngorongoro area and will see a number of wild animals on our way. We arrive at the NGORONGORO CRATER (which lies at an altitude of about 2000 metres) in the afternoon. We stay at the Rhino Lodge in 2-persons’ rooms. Dinner with a campfire or fireplace.
DAY 7: Ngorongoro Crater – game drives – Mto wa Mbu
After breakfast, we drive up a steep road into the famous NGORONGORO CRATER. We will see Maasai settlements with warriors and herds of cattle on our way into the crater. There is a big soda lake in the centre of the crater. You will see many species of wild animals in the crater, including the black rhino, but no giraffes as they are unable to walk down the steep slopes of the crater on their long legs. We leave the crater towards the end of the afternoon via a scenic route and drive to Mto wa Mbu. Here we stay at the Fanaka Resort which has a pool and where we will enjoy a delicious dinner. We stay in comfortable rooms with a shower and toilet.
DAY 8: Mto wa Mbu – transfer Kilimanjaro airport- flight home or Zanzibar
Depending on the time of your flight, you can either relax at the poolside or visit the art and crafts stalls at Mto wa Mbu to purchase a carving or African painting to take home. Transfer to the Kilimanjaro Airport for your return trip home… or an inland flight to exotic ZANZIBAR for a tropical beach holiday…
Tip! You can also choose to stay an extra day to go on one more safari through the special Tarangire National Park, known for its large concentration of elephants and the many baobab trees that adorn the landscape.
